Priest Leveling Guide

According to many players, priests aren’t the fastest class to level. In fact, some even reported that leveling a priest from 1-40 hovers around the slower than average to average pace. However, leveling DOES pick up significantly when a priest reaches level 40 because of the Shadow Form which boosts damage and survivability.

It has an in-game arrow telling you where to go!

Until you get to level 40 wherein you’ll get mega DPS booster that is Shadow Form make sure you have these talents with you:

Spirit tap – You need this for mana regeneration (more mana, more spells you can cast). Of course you can criticize me and say that spirit isn’t really needed at the early parts of the game. HOWEVER, putting 5 points into this talent will make leveling easier because it lessens your downtime (time you use to sit down and drink). Kill your target, get the Spirit Tap bonus, and pick your next target. Rinse and repeat.

Improved Shadow Word: Pain
– Put two points in this and you’ll get an additional 6 seconds for Shadow Word: Pain or two extra ticks of damage. Perfect for increasing your DPS output. You can get this starting at level 16.

Try to stick to the Shadow Tree and put some talents in the following:

  • Improved Mindblast- Lessen the cooldown of your Mindblast Spell by up to 2.5 secs
  • Shadow Weaving – increases the vulnerability of your enemies to shadow damage
  • Darkness – increase your Shadow Damage by up to 10%

Stats to Focus on:

Shadow Priests are strong spell casters so you need to pump your priest up with more of the following stats:

  • Spell Hit
  • Spell Damage
  • Intellect
  • Stamina
  • Resilience (for PVP)

Shadow Priest in Action (Zizek):

Zizek arguably is one of the best World PVP/Arena PVP Shadow priests in the game. A lot will disagree with me, but I think he is one of the best period. Here’s some of his videos just to show you what Shadow Priests can do (for levelling and for PVP):

Here’s Zizek’s legendary Video vs. 3 or 4? Allies. He took the damn ship toward the alliance ship yard:
