WoW.com (formerly WowInsider.com) has got to be the ultimate website for all thing World of Warcraft. It has served as my daily magazine which gives me my daily fix of WoW. Even after I’ve long gone thrown this game in place of my day job, I still go to the site and chew on whatever is in there.

http://www.resto4life.com/

Resto4Life has been by far my favorite Druid Resto blog ever. It’s sad to note that she has stopped updating the site and stopped playing (maybe?) because she has to commit to her family. However the site contains A LOT of very informative posts for everything resto. I like the design and the drawings, I’m a big fan and so are many others.

http://greedygoblin.blogspot.com/

I first came across the Greedy Goblin when I was researching for ways other people used the Auction House to make gold. After learning the gold making secrets from this guy, I have amassed my own personal retirement fund in WoW. Kidding. It helps to learn how this guy makes gold in the game. However, you shouldn’t copy his techniques blindly. Apply it, contextualize, and execute it depending on your current situation.

http://wowenomics.wordpress.com/

I’m an investment banker and equities trader by day and anything with the word economics inside the World of Warcraft means $$$ and gold to me so this site definitely is one of the blogs I frequent to catch up on the latest in WoW commodity price action. They talk about Titanium Ore in the way Wallstreeters talk about gold breaching the $1000 mark recently.

http://www.altoholicsrus.com/

I initially liked this blog because of the dark layout. My guess is that he uses a Warlock as his main since there are a couple of good Warlock guides in here. But this blog is as real as it can get. He discusses some of the things that sets him back (I hope he has overcome this already) like his marriage and some of the guildies that he’s having trouble with. His blog is worth reading. I’m still looking forward to seeing more personal posts from him and his wife.

This blog is one of the most well laid out WoW blogs I’ve seen in a long time. I like how Phoenix (author’s name) sometimes becomes philosophical in her posts and asks, “Should we Kill Arthas?” I have my own thoughts on that but give it a read and post your thoughts on his blog post!

http://bighitbox.com/

Another very well laid out World of Warcraft blog. This blog is a collection of WoW players who have such great passion for the game. They specialize in MELEE combat so if your toon does melee then read this blog as they offer some special tricks and strategies! Because I used to be a shaman, I frequent the shaman feeds a lot.

http://bullcopra.blogspot.com/

I like this blog because it asks the hard questions. He philosophizes on “What if WoW wasn’t anymore” which incidentally is my favorite post written by this blogger. The blog is evenly spaced out with posts that are WoW related and real-life related. You better check this out!

http://gramstead.wordpress.com/

It is nice reading blogs of casual players for a change. I went from hardcore raider to casual player in a month just because I have some commitments in real life (like a day job, yes). There’s plenty of room for casual players in WoW as the game has been “nerfed” in order to make it “easier” for most. I like the balance so far. This blog narrates his experiences in balancing real life with WoW life.

http://casualraidleader.com/

Are you seeing a pattern here? Another Casual player blog! This time the author melds casual playing with raiding! Definitely a very very difficult thing to do! I’ve done this myself but have strictly limited my play time to 10-mans as 25-mans are more difficult to manage. On top of this, he is a father to 3 children :D

I like blogs that tell stories of WoW characters. Dechion’s place narrates the stories of all of his alts since he is a self-confessed altaholic. He is also a father of 3 and a loving husband to a “WoW hating wife”.

Needless to say, he does a pretty good job with letting us know of his characters’ progress.

This is one of the best laid out WoW websites out here on the interwebz. The blog is Delleyntar’s, a Druid on the US Server Dalaran. The author has several videos on the right hand side of the page which are about druid healing mostly. They are educational especially for resto players since resto healing rotations are explained very well. There’s excellent commentary as well on the videos. Very good job. I would love to schedule an interview with this player soon.

http://wishfullthought.blogspot.com/

In real life, it is usually the wife who puts up with the husband’s World of Warcraft ‘addiction’. In Escapist Scrawl’s blog, it is the other way around. She is a mother to 4 children and a wife to a husband that “barely puts up with [her] mmo addiction”. The blog is a simple chronicling of her characters in the World of azeroth. Refreshing and relaxing at the same time. Go check it out!

This blog has several writers and all of them are equally fun to read! I’m a big fan of WoW blogs with in-game screenshots of their adventures. The screenshots make their blog more believable and at the same time more “life like”. I’m a little biased for this blog because I am primarily for the horde.

Lady Jess’s blog really stands out as one of the best laid out personal/WoW blogs out there. The screenshots are amazing (she must have a really wicked graphics card) and really add life to the blog.
http://oneofthesealts.blogspot.com/

Just by looking at the title of the blog, one can easily guess that this player is yet another altaholic. The author quickly differentiates his alts from the others by saying that they’re not like the others. I thought that was real funny.
I love the honesty I find in this blog. One of his recent posts he seems like he’s burning out from the raiding. To quote him, “…it just stopped being fun” But the good news is that he hasn’t quit playing (unlike me, lol) and has leveled his Mage to 55. His main is a Resto Druid (nice!)

I dinged 74 today even with level 80 Alliance Death Knights tearing me up to pieces and /hug -ing me for that friggin achievement, Make Love not Warcraft. Seriously, I know world PVP is a part of the game but I just can’t help but be frustrated when I am being killed for an achievement. It makes me look like I’m part of a quest or something haha. It’s a good thing that there’s no reward for that Achievement. Maybe Blizzard put a like mini-pet for that or something so that we will see more World PVP in the game.

Anyway as revenge, I laid the smack down on an Alliance Warlock but was unable to /hug him because… i typed in /hugggrrr wow. So a couple of minutes later while I was gathering fish for the Tuskar, he laid the smack down on me. hahaha This game is sooo much fun.

I recently dinged at level 73. Level 72 was a breeze because I’m following this nifty little in-game guide that’s making it easier for me to: i) enjoy reading quest lines ii) avoid wasting time on looking for where to go. And that’s especially important for casual gamers (super casual gamers) like who barely have time to play on weekdays (like right now, i have to sleep in a while!).

Achievements

It was a very productive New Year’s holiday in Northrend and Azeroth as I completed several achievements at level 72 and dinged 73 come yesterday (Sunday). So here’s a couple of things that I was able to do:

My Black War Bear – Aghhh I finally completed 4 city raids on Darnassus, Iron Forge, Stormwind, and Exodar for the For the Horde achievement. I got in because my brother told me that a couple of level 80s were already starting a group. Mind you, I was the only guy there who was in the level 70s … LOL…guess they didn’t mind me leeching from their efforts.

Here’s some shots I took during the 40-man raid. We basically just breezed through everything even if I hit Mr. Bronzebeard with practically all that my level 72 shaman has haha which were a dozen misses and one white hot critical hit.

Haha I even got an in-game mail from Thrall! All in all it was a fun raid that took maybe an hour to set up. It was a pain in the ass to gather everyone in grom gol. And several times the game was just lagging so bad that I kept on disconnecting. Props to the death knights who waited for me so I could still walk and mount on water!

Gold Guides

I’m thinking of trying some new tactics to get some more gold. My brother is raking in the dough using tips from my guides (see right) and this new guide that came out of the market. 2 days ago he had 200g more or less…now his money sits at 4500g! WOW hahaha i’ll look into what he’s doing and maybe apply it when I’m 80 and in need of a multi-passenger mount. Until then!

Be sure to check out my path of a hero account!

I recently dinged 72, yesterday and respecced to Restoration just so we could run the normal Nexus. I must say that Blizzard has really amped up the Shaman Restoration specced. There were a couple of new things like:
Ancestral Awakening

Recent Updates

I recently dinged 72, yesterday and respecced to Restoration just so we could run the normal Nexus. I must say that Blizzard has really amped up the Shaman Restoration specced. There were a couple of new things like:

Ancestral Awakening

Rip Tide

Tidal Waves

For me it really made healing much much easier especially for a normal 5-man instance. I like Tidal Waves coupled with Chain Heal. The Chain Heal consumes Tidal Waves and increases the heal by 25%. Riptide has a nice HoT (Heal over time) too.

After playing nexus I got some cool blue weapons which made me want to try out the Enhancement spec. I find leveling as a resto shaman to be quite tedious so i respecced to Enhancement for 20g (ouch!). Here’s the new stuff I really like:

Feral Spirit – THE BEST

Malestrom Weapon - If stacked 5 times, Healing Wave becomes and instant cast!

Static Shock – Added DPS

I have yet to take a screenshot of the Feral Spirit wolves in action but they’re really cool! You get to have a pet bar once you summon them; only downside to it really is that they have a 3 minute cooldown.

Achievements

Here’s some of my recent achievements. Me and 3 other guildies went to Blackrock Spire to get the Leeeroy Achievement. It’s pretty cool and easy to do :)

Until then See you! I’m Updating my Path of a Hero page soon after I ding to 73, i’m already halfway done in 72.

I was reading through WoWinsider.com today and learned of news that a Blizzard employee was offering a lifetime subscription of World of Warcraft if you donate $25 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

All you have to do is donate $25 via your Visa, Amex, etc. credit card through this link and make sure to check the “I want to send a message” box so you can include the comment “For the Horde” or “For the Alliance”. These comments will allow Katherine Allen, the Blizzard employee to include your name in a hat for the draw on January 8. Only entries made until January 5, 2009 will be included!

I personally think that this is one good way of helping out. Remember, donate because you want to share a little of your funds to charity not because you want to win the life-time draw (although that makes for a really nice bonus!).

Here’s a tally of the prizes to be won:

1) Three One-Year Time Cards for World of Warcraft (yes she will pick 3 winners)

2) One Life-time subscription to World of Warcraft which means that YOU WILL NEVER PAY FOR WoW Again!!! (If you don’t win you can always check out my guide here)

Again here’s the link to the donation page

Cheers!

I would like to officially introduce AzerothNow.com to the (hopefully growing) list of Kap’s Blogroll with a short intro of his site:

AzerothNow.com has been up for a little over a month now according to my conversation with the site owner but has some solid WoW related content already.

The blog is very well laid out, I would think it’s more of a magazine. I really like the featured article portion of the page which displays which I believe is the latest article on the blog.

Some of the notable content on this site are:

WotLK Death Knight Builds

Reasons World of Warcraft Is Slow

The Fall of a Raid

AzerothNow.com also has a very practical article on achieving your goals in WoTLK which can be found here. I think the site has a lot of potential in terms of the quality of content that’s going to be made available in the upcoming months.

Be sure to check out AzerothNow.com! I’m not sure what server he plays in but he knows his stuff. Make sure to check out all the guides he has there for you. Some of the stuff there’s still being written (I assume) like a Shaman WoTLK build (haha) and other profession guides such as inscription. I’m sure all will be covered in due time. The site owner’s hard at work in coming up with new content for you so make sure to bookmark his website or subscribe to his RSS Feed!

So I finally took the plunge and I digitally upgraded my account to Wrath of the Lich King. I still have 10 days of free play (from the Scroll of Resurrection my brother gave me) but with the looks of things, I think i’m going to continue playing.

From the initial get go here’s some of the things I like about WoTLK:

Achievements – An achievement popped up when I completed one of the quests in Northrend. It basically said that I’ve completed 1,000 quests since I started playing! Keeping track of these tiny little details really adds up to the game play experience. Now I want to do some city raiding to get my bear mount !!! It’s a pretty cool reward for the “For the Horde” achievement.

Calendar – You can schedule guild raids from here. World events are also listed in this nifty little feature that Blizzard put in the game.

New Quest Styles – I’ve just finished saving some kodo beasts from dying haha you have to mount on to them and release them in the camp. You get a new set of controls when you mount the kodos.

I still have a lot to discover in WoTLK…I haven’t even made my death knight yet…but since I’m really just going to do casual play. I want to maximize my time in leveling my main Shaman first before anything else.

I’ve also set up a Path of a Hero account to track my progress and gear. It seems to be a really nice social networking site for World of Warcraft players. Give it a try! Click here

Here’s a shot of me and Hellscream over at the Warsong base:

Me with Mr. Hellscream

I have an idea for a series of posts that I plan on doing. I think I can try to make a case for World of Warcraft if I can somehow link real life lessons to the game and vice versa.

Cheers!

As I type, I am downloading World of Warcraft, Burning Crusade, and will upgrade my account to Wrath of the Lich King. My download is around 95% done so I’m really excited to re-join my friends in the world of Azeroth.

I know I wouldn’t be able to play as much. But to make this interesting for a lot of casual players…I’ll be tracking my progress, post some screenshots, time logs, as well as other stuff that’s going on in my busy life. I feel that my playing can become a template for a lot of World of Warcraft players who are too busy to play. Maybe I can get my articles listed in Wowinsider.com (haha hopefully) So here goes. In a few hours, I’ll be logging in to Azeroth.

Merry Christmas to you All!

Since the release of Wrath of the Lich King (WotLK), i’ve been slowly contemplating on going back to playing World of Warcraft. The reason I stopped was because ever since I got a job, I haven’t really gotten much time to play.

From playing 8 hours a day for so many months, I was down to playing a few hours on the weekends. Eventually I quit, since I was paying $15/month on very limited playing time.

But now I am having the itch again to go back haha primarily because my brother, cousin, and friends are playing the game again and are doing 10-man raids in Naxx.

Also, they made some really cool changes to the Shaman class, particularly for Enhancement which was my leveling talent tree! Check out this video, I really like the spirit wolves spell:

Hmmm plus what would it be like to be a death knight??

Cheers!

Update: I was browsing through the World of Warcraft Shaman forum and came across this post:

DK inc.
Me : I ma shoot mah Lightning bo…
Mind freeze Interrupt
Me : I ma shoot mah Lighttning bol…
Anti magic shell
Me : I ma heal myself !
Strangulate Silence.
Me : I mma run back to my corpse!

A player was basically ranting about how weak elemental shaman are now in the game. I kind of missed the forums, I wonder if I can still post?
