Some new Content

I have some new guides posted on the right hand side of this page. I’m currently working on some guides on how to make more Gold in the game. Since the Outlands is pretty much filled with Gold (dailies, etc.) i’m going to focus more on low level gold making for those of you who’ll want to get your mount by level 40. Then some more guides so that by the time you hit 60 you would have enough money to buy an Epic mount.

Outlands gold guides will come after that

Cheers!

Putting in some content

I plan on putting some basic content in here such as some leveling guides for each class (talent spec to use and some other tips to hasten leveling).

Once I’m done with those, I go on to create some content for the Gold diggers out there :)

Cheers

Update [2/17/2008]

I have finished some Talent Spec/Leveling Guides for 7/8 classes…Once I finish with all of these I’ll try to come up with some guides and tips for GOLD making including: Farming Spots, Auction House Trading, and Profession Gold Making Guides.

The owner is back

Sorry for leaving you guys out over the holidays. I recently got a job as an investment banker and it isn’t helping in terms of trying to maintain this site. I looked over some of the comments you have and I guess I did not make it clear in my previous post:

You can get the trial key without me sending it to you (but I do think you’ll be needing a credit card, because Blizzard asked for mine when I first registered almost a year ago)

Okay for those of you who still want to get a key from me (if you’ve downloaded the game already) then please comment on this post with your email ad so I can hit you up with a key. I won’t approve it for posting if I have chosen your email address as the recipient of the cd key. Likewise I won’t post it if it is a valid email address. I do respect your privacy.

World of Warcraft Leveling Guides

The need to Level Faster

There are just some people like me who don’t want to stay at level 30 or something. It’s such an “awkward” stage, no mount, no nothing. Plus it doesn’t help that on a PVP server, you can get “ganked” by higher level characters of the opposing faction (I still remember those times in Stranglethorn where I would get camped almost every time).

Plus most of the real fun starts at maximum level which is 70 right now (80 once the Wrath of the Lich King is released). You can go to most of the places in the game, you get to gank, etc.

For most people leveling is a big ordeal. You really do have to spend a considerable time leveling your character to 70 so you can start the real fun.

Aside from optimizing your characters’ talent spec for maximum damage per second (DPS) which is what you should do so you can kill mobs faster, the biggest factor that would contribute to your leveling speed are the series of quests that you’ll do.

World of Warcraft Leveling Guides

Luckily there are guides out there that will tell you which quests are worth doing and which are to be skipped. Authors of these guides have multiple characters across several servers and already know which quests are easy to do and at the same time pay a hefty amount of experience points.

There are only 2 guides worth mentioning.

World of Warcraft Horde Leveling Guide

When it comes to a Horde leveling guide, nothing will come close to Joana’s 1-70 leveling guide.

In my experience it has really helped me get to the outlands faster than any guide out there. I used Jame’s Horde Leveling guide until I got to level 30; I thought I was already leveling fast but my other friend who I play with is usually ahead … and he’s not using a guide, just doing quests mindlessly.

He was first to 50 and 60 on this server

I decided to get a copy of Joana’s guide (by the way he leveled to 60 in 4 days) and started at level 30. I went through an adjustment phase where in I actually started the guide sequence at level 25 (even if I was level 30 already) because I needed to catch up with quests prereqs.

I leveled to 60 in 7 days …not bad. The series of quests were really efficient. The guide will even tell you when to turn in your quests. My exp bar was really running on steroids and the quests that you’ll do are solo-able so you don’t need to find a group to level up (which takes up much time).

World of Warcraft Alliance Leveling Guide

Brian Kopp’s Guide tops the list of Alliance Leveling Guides. If you’re alliance and want to level as fast as Joana then you better get Brian Kopp’s guide.

Brian Kopp’s level 60 and 70 played times

Just like Joana’s leveling guide, Brian Kopp’s Alliance guide lays out a step by step quest guide featuring easy quests that have high xp rewards…and more importantly…solo-able (don’t you hate it when you waste your time in a quest).

Brian Kopp levels his character to 60 in 5 days and to 70 in 10 days played time.

Incredible.

As for me…

Leveling wasn’t as daunting and as tedious at it seems; especially since I was leveling quicker than my friends. I’m a happy chap at level 70 now and running Karazhan, SSC, Gruuls, and Mag with my guild. All i’m really worrying about now is gearing up…not leveling up :)

Changes for this site

I haven’t been able to update the site fully…I’ve been busy answering emails about how to get the free trial and stuff.

This site was supposed to be just a guide to playing World of Warcraft trial and eventually the full game itself because A LOT of people are asking me about it since I got the trial version before.

Anyway some changes will include:

  1. Template Update - I’ll try to come up with a new header
  2. New Posts - Relevant WoW posts that are not related to creating a free trial account, what can I possibly write more about that than I already have haha

So hopefully with those changes I’ll be able to get some posts going as well as a new layout.

How to Play World of Warcraft for “Free”

In today’s post I’ll be showing you how you can play World of Warcraft for Free WITHOUT using illegal tools, hacks, and joining private servers which pretty much suck for the most part (don’t ask me why). Let me just clarify a few things first before I show you how to do it, the LEGAL and SAFE way.

I already paid for the game why should I pay every month?

I this all the time in forum postings, especially in Yahoo! Answers. Okay first and foremost we all (I hope) pay for the game itself. Quite understandable if you think about it, the costs involved in developing such a Massive multiplayer online experience, such as WoW is enormous. It must run in 6 to 7 figures not and that’s just for the development of the game. Blizzard still has to shell out money for distribution and marketing (although I wouldn’t worry about the marketing part, the Warcraft franchise has been one of the most successful game franchises in PC game history).

Okay so why pay the monthly fee? Blizzard has in-house servers that run the World of Warcraft, those servers handle everything that happens in Azeroth (and in the Outlands for Burning Crusade users). They also store information regarding your character, your equipment, etc. There are just so many things it’s quite useless to list all of them.

Blizzard also has to pay for bandwidth costs! I wouldn’t be able to know exactly how much Blizzard is spending for bandwidth but I’m going to give a rough estimate (it’s a very rough one indeed as I do not have the right figures but only estimates).

According to this site on the average World of Warcraft will take around5-10 megabytes per hour of play. Let’s say the average player plays for around 3 hours everyday so that’s 15-30 megabytes per day.

In turn every month the average player would have used 450-900mb of bandwidth. Okay assuming that bandwidth costs are variable, according to this link , That kind of bandwidth would cost on the average $1 per gigabyte.

But there are over 8 million players playing World of Warcraft. If Blizzard is spending $0.50 per gigabyte of bandwidth every month. They would be shelling out at least $4 million every month on bandwidth costs ALONE!

A lot of you would probably dispute these figures and it is OKAY. I put on some figures not because I want to show you how much Blizzard is spending for you to experience the World of Warcraft but to give emphasis on the fact that it does cost A LOT OF MONEY to be able to provide such a unique and engaging gaming experience.

$15/month isn’t so much but for those who want to play “guilt” free without thinking, “there goes my $15″ every month. Then I have a simple tip for you.

How to Play World of Warcraft for “Free”

Okay before you do this I suggest that you get to level 30 first before you actually do this. Why? Because starting level 30, your earning potential in the game in terms of GOLD starts to increase: you have a higher gathering skill (presumably), you have more experience in trading using the Auction House so and so forth.

All you really have to do is to earn 100 GOLD within the span of two or three weeks and then sell it using a third party website that is offering to buy your gold. Why 100G? Because on the average 100 Gold will be bought at around $15 on the average.
So if within the span of a month you were able to gather 100 Gold, sell it to a third party site, then you would have some money to PAY for your monthly World of Warcraft bill. Not too bad?

In reality, what’s really happening is that you’re creating money out of virtual Gold in order to pay for your monthly bill. You’re playing World of Warcraft any way, why not spend a few days farming for gold for your monthly bill? It takes a little work and a little patience to pull it off but at least you won’t have to worry about $15 you get some experience points too. Not bad eh?

Who do you sell your gold too?

I only know of two sites that buy gold and are reputable at the same time:

You can go ahead and visit Sparter.com and Offgamers.com

WoW Free Trial - Sparter

I seem to be leaning towards recommending sparter.com over offgamers since offgamers sometimes doesn’t accept gold buy backs. On the other hand sparter allows you to post your offer so Gold buyers can check on your rates and deliverability times.

You get paid via Paypal and all you really have to do is wire transfer your Paypal money to your bank account and there you have created money out of thin air (well not really) to pay for your World of Warcraft account.

It does get easier when you have level 70s in your character roster as there is more gold in the outlands. Generally the higher the level, the easier it gets to farm for gold. In effect, the more you play, the more you can play for FREE.

Cheers!

Buying WoW Gold? You Better Read This…

Few people are actually willing to do this experiment. I’ve asked a couple of players if they wanted to try buying gold from a site other than Blizzard (but then blizzard doesn’t really offer Dollars for Gold anyway) and they said no of course.

Here are a couple of reasons why:

  1. It’s a scam
  2. I don’t trust them
  3. Will my credit card be safe?
  4. I’m not from the U.S. I don’t think I can buy Gs.

I understand the hesitation amongst those I have asked and you can liken it to the early days of e-commerce when everyone was cautious to type in their credit card numbers on E-Bay or on Amazon. This heightened sense of caution especially when dealing with online transactions is compounded by several stories of people who were scammed “to death”.

So I took it upon myself at least to try out a service I’ve been looking at for quite some time now. As you may well know I am offering free gold to those people who would want to sign up their trial accounts under me. If you want to learn more info about it then you can visit this link. So what happened? I was very impressed to say the least.

Global WoW Gold Shortage

There seems to be a shortage in the supply of World of Warcraft gold across several WoW Gold websites. I know people frown a lot about buying World of Warcraft Gold but for the sake of those who will buy I have tested it out my self and spent a couple of bucks for a measly 20g.

My order has not yet arrived and I paid for that last Tuesday as I was going to be doing a review so that I at least can tell you if the services work or not and what I have to say about them.

So I came up with a list of sites that sell World of Warcraft gold and used the live chat feature on all of them. Apparently it turns out that almost all of them are in a shortage. Blizzard has been cracking down on accounts that are using exploits and hacks to “pharm” World of Warcraft Gold. Hence, the supply of these services are shortened and are not able to keep up with the demand.

But that is not to say that those sites are using exploits and hacks to farm Gold. That we will not know for sure. There is no proof that they do. But what I do know is that they buy gold from somewhere and sell it for a tidy profit.

Eventually I hope that I receive my gold within the next few days so I can finally finish my article on how to purchase gold (if ever you’re short 20g for your mount, etc.)

World of Warcraft Videos

Hey I came across this trailer from youtube. It’s one of the best World of Warcraft movies I have ever seen:

The video is part of the contest Azeroth Exposed held by Blizzard, Intel, and Youtube.

Made 30 Gold from 9 Gold

I have been playing with the Auction House every now and then and recently I have come up with another good set of trades with screenshots to boot this time.

Here are the trades I made today:

World of Warcraft Sales

For today the bulk of my gold earnings came from the Greater Arcane Elixir (I couldn’t even use it yet) but I bought 3 of those anyway at 3 gold a piece.

If you take a look at the screenshot I have successfully sold at it a buy out price of a whopping 10.8644 Gold.

Not bad for a quick profit eh? That’s a 233% return on a 9 gold investment.

Of course there are a couple of other items that I have sold as well but those are mostly drops by creeps which I got from the RFD instance we did a couple of days back.

Here are a couple of reasons why the trade worked to my favor:

  • There were only three Greater Arcane Elixir’s in the Market when I bought them. Buying all of them would allow me to monopolize the item in the Auction House so for as long as I don’t abuse the price to exorbitant levels people WILL have to buy from me.
  • It is a potion item. World of Warcraft players use these items on a regular basis! Because they are consumable (and the item is useful for quests) the turnover rate for the item (the speed at which they come and go in the market) is pretty high.

This is one of the strategies that has worked for me when trading in the Auction House. A good feel of the right price points for a product is essential. Don’t abuse it or people will wait for other competitors to post products on the Auction House.

The Risk

There is always risk involved when making a trade. Buying all of the aforementioned potions and putting an almost 300% mark-up on them isn’t as easy. Other people who have the item could have just dropped in theirs and sell at a much lower price.

If that happened I will be forced to lower my mark-up to a certain level.

Some Don’ts

Don’t do this for copper bars or copper ores. A lot of people are going to drop in on you and have a price fight to the death. You will almost certainly lose gold this way.

The Money Bag

So barely a week after I bought my first mount at the cost of 90g I think, I have no broken the 200G barrier (which is another first for me).

200G Money Bag

not bad for a week’s trading eh?

Mount Video

World of Warcraft Free TrialGetting your first mount can be a daunting task especially if you still don’t have the World of Warcraft Gold to purchase it. Here’s another video I found which shows a couple of epic mounts that are available to purchase with World of Warcraft currency.

I remember when I got my first mount for a total of 90 gold. It was sweet.

Here’s the video:
